AREA SUMMARY:

Harvest Christian Fellowship was planted on Easter Sunday, 2002. We associate ourselves with Grace Communion International Canada because of our common desire for true lasting revival. The over 900 churches in over 100 countries may be slightly different in approach but we have chosen to identify with these churches for accountability, fellowship and support.

Harvest Christian shares interdependence with a variety of local Bible-believing congregations for fellowship, networking, encouragement and advancement of kingdom work. We are proud to have fellowship with these churches and recognize them as part of the Church universal.

The local mission of the church was formulated from a deep passion to see people brought to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We feel that relationship is the foundation for dealing successfully with all of life's issues.

Harvest Christian exists to compassionately help the hurting by leading them to Jesus. It is our desire to provide a community of loving people who have not lost the understanding of what it means not to be a Christian. We strive to be relevant to the issues people are facing today and to convey the message and teachings of Jesus Christ in plain English so ordinary people can understand. Our church structure is simple and fresh just like the good news of Jesus.

At Harvest Christian we are tired of religion and don't want to play church. We are concerned about people not programs and relationships not just religion. God Himself. The music is current with the day we live in.

CONGREGATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

Our congregation recognizes the incredible sacrifice God made by His Son Jesus in ending the strangle hold of sin over us. He made it possible for us to be a people who live in a love relationship with Him, His Son and the Holy Spirit, at the Father's throne, reflecting the love shared in God, for all mankind. We feel a deep responsibility to obey Jesus commandment to; "Love one another, as I have loved you." This is the challenge we pursue. We see our hope in the Trinity life which is the essence of the statement: "God is love!"

WORSHIP MEETING TIME: Sundays at 10:00 am

PASTOR: Steve Posiak

I was born and raised in a good Polish family with two brothers and a sister. I grew up in the wonderful city of Montreal, Quebec during those exciting years of Expo 67, the Olympics, and of course the struggle for Quebec separatism. At age seventeen I began working for the Canadian National Railway and worked there for 32 years as an electrician, electronics technician, technical writer, and finally as instructional technologist and master trainer. In 2004, I found myself unemployed after our division was sold and began working as an independent consultant developing and delivering technical training.

Being of Polish descent, my religious roots are in the Roman Catholic Church but, as with many young people I stopped attending church as a young teenager. However, by age 20 my interest in things spiritual began to awaken and in 1976 after a few years of searching I became a Christian and member of the Worldwide Church of God. In 1996, as the WCG was struggling through its doctrinal changes, I had a spiritual reawakening at a Promise Keeper's rally which I attended with several friends. For the next few years I became heavily involved in men's and prayer ministry. In 1999 after completing studies for business, I began studying theology at McGill University in Montreal through the United Theological College. With my move to central British Columbia, I'm continuing these studies through Trinity Western University in Vancouver. My main interests of study are church history and Pastoral counselling.

Family

Nicole and I met in Ottawa during a church celebration. We began dating when we returned to Montreal and were married in June of 1977. My son Christopher was born in 1978 and my daughter Stephanie followed three years later. Nicole works as a bank manager in Vernon, B.C. She chuckles whenever someone comments on our different professions but then she describes how often she is able to demonstrate Christ's love and minister to people who are struggling financially.

Calling to ministry

My call to active ministry came in 2002 when the elder of the Plattsburgh, New York congregation of the WCG transferred to a different city. I volunteered to shepherd the group and so Nicole and I began our weekly commute south of the border to meet with those wonderful people. Then, with the loss of full-time employment in 2004, God opened the door for me to enter full-time ministry. As God was preparing my heart and helping me to develop basic pastoral skills, I began praying for an opportunity, wondering if I would ever be given a chance to enter ministry full time. I never dreamt He would open a door in one of Canada 's most beautiful locations, central BC. And so, in 2006, we found ourselves packing and moving thousands of miles from family and friends to answer a call that reaches to the deepest part of our beings.

Ministry Purpose

Several years ago I was privileged to work with Pastor Dennis Lawrence at a youth camp north of Montreal. During that work, a vision was born based on John 12:32 – If Christ is lifted up, He will draw all to Himself. I feel I have been on a journey of seeking God's face and its my desire to help others to do the same. Some parts of the journey may require healing, others repentance, others encouragement. My prayer is that I will be able to help you with what you need at the time you need it. My prayer is that together, we will be able to lift Christ up for all to see.

The Cross, the empty Tomb and the risen Lord form the basis of personal ministry. Believing in one holy, loving, all-powerful and gracious Creator God is foundational to a vision summarized in:

  • Love the Lord
  • Love the Lord's people
  • Love the Lost

Grace is really all that is needed. Legalism is the hallmark of false religion. Free, unmerited grace in redeeming from sin and death through Jesus Christ needs to be preached. This means maintaining a focus on the work of God not our works or ability to become worthy of salvation. Only by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ are we saved. Together we all stand in the grace of God under the blood of Jesus.

The Incarnation reflects the importance of God's grace and truth:

John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. 16 From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

The quest of Christianity is to be conformed to the image of Christ: To become like Jesus
and do the works He did.

God loves everyone. He has proven it in Christ. There is nothing that can separate from His love, not even our sins. Human suffering, evil as it is, is not in vain. The apostle Paul wrote this important truth to the church in Rome:

Romans 8:33 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

A heart growing closer to the Lord each year is a reflection of spiritual maturity. The Holy Spirit provides spiritual gifts for the work of the gospel. Trusting in Jesus Christ and giving loving allegiance to our Savior is a daily pursuit. God is the priority in life and we are His beloved children.

AREA SUMMARY:

Members put their faith in Jesus Christ and desire to be part of proclaiming the gospel message of salvation by God's grace. This vision statement neatly summarizes congregational upward, inward and outward focuses.

  • Love for the Lord
  • Love for the Lord's People
  • Love for the Lost

The importance of grace to the congregation is a reflection of the words of the apostle Paul to the church in Ephesus:

Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Living the good news of what God has done in reconciling the world to Himself is a basic commitment. This leads to sharing with others the good news that God is offering forgiveness of sin and eternal life through Jesus Christ. Spiritual life is characterized by trusting our lives to Jesus Christ and loving allegiance to our Savior.

Christ-centred worship, grace-based biblical teaching, intercessory prayer, pastoral nurturing and warm fellowship are important hallmarks of congregational life. Members seek to express the love of God to others through the work of the Holy Spirit in their personal lives. Involvement in local community service projects gives opportunities to serve those less fortunate and for the gospel to be experienced in action.

Our local mission is to Build Bridge in Christ because we believe that our purpose is to respond to the ministry of reconciliation, (2 Corinthians 5:18).

We do this by assisting people to reconnect to God and to each other in the following ways:

  1. We follow our calling to be witnesses of the Lord Jesus Christ, by the leading of the Holy Spirit, in order to build a bridge of hope to the spiritually lost (Acts 1:8).

  2. We provide worship services to encourage and assist people to grow in their relationship with God through practical biblical teaching relevant to current issues, worship music, fellowship, and prayer.

  3. Unity, not conformity, is central to our church family because we are called to, "Accept one another, since Christ has accepted you, for the Glory of God." (Romans 15:7)

Here at Grace, we understand that we are apprentices of Jesus Christ. We aim to live the lifestyle that Jesus Christ taught his followers.

We worship together as we enjoy singing praises to God, hearing biblically-grounded sermon messages, fellowshipping and seeking to grow and learn more in our apprenticeship to Jesus.

We also enjoy vibrant Kids and Youth Church ministries.

Members look outwards to assist our community and are involved in outreach activities such as Hands of Hope which helps individuals and families in need by providing free furniture/household goods and also through Meals on Wheels.

We have an active Homework Club for children needing help in school and we also offer an English as a second language program which assists new immigrants to learn the English language and settle into Canada. Very qualified individuals lead this free program. Please call Nestor at 204.663.0646 for more information.

Our goal is to learn, grow and share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

On behalf of our Grace Christian Church's members, I want to extend a welcome to those who visit this website to also come and visit us at Grace Christian Church at 50 Barnes Street in Winnipeg.

WORSHIP MEETING TIME: Sundays at 10:30 am

PASTOR: Fraser Henderson

Grace Community Church began as a newly replanted congregation of GCI Canada in Cornwall on September 4, 2005. Having become able to purchase our own building on April 1, 2005, the members worked toward refocusing our church for more effective evangelism in the Cornwall community. At the same time, the congregation wanted a name for the church that would reflect what we saw as the most important mission for this congregation in the eastern Ontario city of Cornwall. The name chosen, Grace Community Church, reflects the understanding of the central position, and need, of grace and assurance. Community reflects both the desires to be a strong Christian community and to be a great citizen of the central area of the city of Cornwall in which the church is located. Church reflects the understanding of what Jesus founded and what is to remain until his Second Coming. As well, it reflects the reality of being a gathered group with a focus on Jesus, who we understand to be the head of our church.

Ours is a small, but warm, congregation offering a place to be loved and cared for. We value individuals for who they are and can be in Christ. We value focusing on one another, for which reason we have time for conversation and refreshments following each service. We value learning how God is at work in each person which has led to the establishing of a regular prayer group. We value caring for others, leading us to be actively involved in Operation Christmas Child each year.

If you're looking for a caring church, soundly rooted in scripture, please join us Sunday at 10:30 am. Come as you are, but don't expect that you'll leave exactly that way, as we expect Jesus will impact you in at least some small way. We expect you'll leave encouraged and feeling more confident for the week that will stretch ahead of you!

The Ottawa-Gatineau congregation of Grace Communion International - Canada is located in the heart of Ottawa… well actually just little to the right of the heart… and then down a bit - but close enough! We're hoping to be able to bring the Joy of knowing Christ into that heart and to the very fringes of the region.

Being located in Ottawa's capital region creates many interesting challenges to a church in this age. The Ottawa-Gatineau congregation has the blessing of being able to meet many of these challenges with the talents and gifts God has provided within our church.

The Ottawa-Gatineau congregation is bilingual; though our services are predominantly conducted in English we are able to provide translation through a closed loop system similar to those used to enhance hearing-aides. Combined with a large proportion of immigrants who have settled into the area over the past five years this has made our services start to take on new shapes and styles to meet the needs of a delightfully varied group of people.

We hope to be able to use this diversity to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every tribe and tongue we come in contact with, which with today's multicultural society may well be all of them.

Huge goals, but thankfully we think God's up to the task – His resume was exemplary.

Once a month we take our worship team and head to Rideau Ferry Retirement home and provide a time of old hymns, fellowship and just plain fun for the residents. Over the years we have also offered our services for free counselling & various Biblical courses for the community. Many of our members live in the town of Smiths Falls and others commute from the outlying areas on a regular basis.

I have had the pleasure and challenge of walking and sharing in the care of this small group of dedicated disciples of Jesus for the past 18 years. It has been and continues to be a wonderful group of people to grow together in the grace of God. Recently we changed our denominational name to Grace Communion International as it better represents who we are as a denomination. Our focus is not on what we must do to please God, but rather what we desire to do as we are given the privilege of participating in his sharing of the incredible good news of a person—Our Saviour Jesus.

We are an international denomination with particular connection to Africa where we have been able to assist with manpower, discipling, financial resources to the ministry and in particular to the children of Africa. We are a small group and do not pretend to have a huge impact on the world scene. Nonetheless we are so thankful to be a “small spoke” in the wheel of the work of God.

Anyone is welcome to come. We do not judge people in their walk of life. Our responsibility is to encourage and point each other to Christ and let the Spirit take care of the personal changes needed in our lives for the glory of God. Please give us a call to confirm the time of services as on occasion we meet in the afternoon. May you continue to be blessed whether you are just starting a walk with your Creator or if you have been on this path for many decades.

A warm welcome to all!

We are a multicultural community of Jesus' disciples. We long to love Jesus and gracefully reflect His Light & Love towards others.

Our congregation reflects the rich ethnic and cultural diversity of our city of Toronto by representing many countries. Besides Canada, the major areas of the world from which we hail: the Philippines, the Caribbean, and Europe. Such a diversity of peoples worshipping together gives our congregation a special flavour and joy. Not only are we diverse in national heritage but also in age and social background.

A blossoming music ministry contributes a great deal to worshipping God through a variety of styles, contemporary as well as traditional. As a church we value the past Christian heritage of worship, but we also embrace worshipping God in forms relevant to our times.

Weekly services are focused on the preaching of God's Word, always placing Jesus at the centre of our community and personal lives. We emphasize the Cross of Christ, the great grace that God our Father has given us, the precious gift of the Holy Spirit, and the marvellous hope we have in Christ Jesus.

Our congregation continuously reaches out to the community to assist those in need, especially in Scarborough where quite a number of our members live. We donate regularly to the Agincourt Food Bank, have helped with Habitat for Humanity, and support our own denomination's Christian missions in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Our Women's Ministry serves both outside and inside our congregation. It focuses on the spiritual dimension, being sisters in Christ, encouraging and edifying one other. We also have special programs geared for youngsters and sponsor youth activities.

Cornerstone Christian Fellowship extends a warm welcome to you. Whether you are visiting us for the first time or a return visitor, we hope you enjoy our vision and desire to join us not only in worship but in serving our Lord and our community.

Our motto "Come and see...go and tell!" captures who we are and what is our mission. The heart of God is a missionary heart. We believe our Father desires everyone to enter into a personal and intimate relationship with His Son and their Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Therefore, He has called His people to be His disciples to be a missionary people and His church to be a missionary church in, to, and for the world.

Cornerstone has three characteristics that make up the fabric and the culture of the church. First, we have a rich diversity of people from many different countries and ethnic origins. This not only displays the reconciliation of the Christian faith, but also allows a newcomer to feel welcome and comfortable. Second, there is a deep sense of joy which is evident in our worship service. We understand life to be a journey and our worship celebration includes those elements that are meaningful and relevant for anyone on the journey of life. Third, as a missionary people, we focus on serving our neighbours and community with practical and significant programs and projects as we desire to share His love with others.
